Pulp And Paper Experience

AIE is regarded as the most experienced repair facility working within the Pulp and Paper industry in New Zealand. AIE was founded in the Pulp and Paper sector and has a long history of delivering at critical moments. From scheduled shuts to emergency breakdowns and refurbishment of plant, AIE knows how important it is to have teams available with the skills and focus to work as many hours as it takes to get everyone back to work. The teams have deep knowledge of the plant used in Pulp and Paper manufacture. Over the years AIE has designed and fabricated parts and equipment for use in the Pulp and Paper industry.

Refurbishment of Washer

AIE undertook major repairs on CHH Tasmans Washer 15, 25 and 65 drums. Prior vacuum sealing problems and oil leaks had justified the total refurbishment of these drums within a short time frame of 25 days. The biggest of the drums was 5m in diameter and 8m long.

We worked around the clock to strip the drums, trunnions and gearboxes and totally refurbish them.

Mud Filter Drum

The productive efficiency of a filter is dependent on dimensional tolerance and the efficiency of the vacuum system. In this instance the client had a filter well outside dimensional tolerance. Structural stability was also a concern.

With only a brief window of time available for this filter to be out of production, Allied Industrial Engineering reconstructed the filter and produced a dimensionally accurate and true Filter Drum.

  • AIE worked in conjunction with GL&V to design and replace the stainless steel deck on the mud filter for CHH Tasman

  • The deck supporting arrangement was strengthened and machined prior to attaching the new 10mm grade 304 stainless steel

  • The plastic grids were retained on the deck by stainless steel strips

  • A run out of less than 2mm was achieved resulting in much improved operation on site

  • We had 20 days to totally overhaul the drum and achieved this by running shifts around the clock
